Maintenance Worker II

|Work Hours:||7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.|
DUTIES: To assist maintenance staff engaged in a variety of Water Maintenance activities. To excavate, replace, repair and maintain water meters and service lines; install splits on service and stubs for new residential houses; check and report leaks on fire hydrants and water mains; perform minor repairs and report any major repairs to the supervisor. Perform routine turn off of delinquent services including plugging and unplugging services or removing meters; perform general maintenance duties as assigned. May work evening and weekend as required by staffing shortages or emergency and other duties by the supervisors. Also, will work a rotating call 24 hours 7 days per week.
QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of responsible maintenance and construction experience, plumbing experiences a plus.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
