PC Technician II

Duties: Configure and set up new desktop personal computers; install software and network connection; migrate the customers’ data between personal computers. Responsible for migrating from older software to newer versions, including the overall migration of the entire City from one version to another and mass installation of new software. Responsible for the day-to-day support of personal computers; peripherals such as printers, NIC’s, memory and scanners, and desktop scanners. Troubleshoot hardware and software and develop solutions using independent research, outside vendors and by evaluating and recommending products. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Certifications: Two years of responsible experience equivalent to the level of PC Technician I for the City of Jackson. Equivalent to an Associate degree with major course work in computer science or related field. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid, commercial Mississippi driver’s license.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residency within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
