Description

Duties: Prepare, maintain and update various records and files; participate in special project and assignments as requested; monitor accounts to ensure sufficient funds to pay invoices; prepare and process purchase requisitions and request payment; may assist in the preparation and administration of the annual budget; assist management staff in implementation of new programs, systems, procedures, and operational methods; coordinate project activities with other department or divisions and within governmental regulations; prepare and distribute reports for review and use; prepare and maintain a variety of forms used by assigned department; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; relate to public tactfully and courteously and maintain a cooperative working relationship with others and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by a college-level course in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field. Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience. Three (3) years of Customer Service experience. Must pass the City of Jackson typing test (40 WPM).

 

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:

Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residency within the City of Jackson.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
