Description

DUTIES:  Receive emergency service calls from the public requesting police or other emergency services; determine nature, location, and priority of emergency; enter the appropriate information in computer and forward calls to the dispatcher.  Answer non-emergency calls for assistance and refer to appropriate department or agency; answer calls for maintenance service emergencies during evenings, weekends and holidays.  Use the telecommunications system to coordinate emergency calls and relay information and assistance requests involving other law enforcement agencies. Enter, update and retrieve information from NCIC relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other information.  Receive, process, and transmit information by teletype to Federal, State, and local government agencies.  Receive respond to and document requests for warrants and Division of Motor Vehicles print-pouts; verify, type and file warrants; document vehicle impound information.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or the equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Some experience in dealing with and communicating with the public is required.  

 

 

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.

                                                                                                                   

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
