Description

DUTIES:   Provide clerical and secretarial support to assist designated department staff in the completion of their duties and responsibilities.  Prepare and review a variety of memorandums, correspondence, reports, public notices, bills and documents as assigned; complete various forms; prepare and distribute reports for review and use; prepare and maintain a variety of forms used by an assigned department of division. Screen and direct calls and visitors as appropriate; answer questions and provide information to the public; receive citizens and client complaints and questions and refer to appropriate department staff member for resolution.  Prepare and maintain a variety of files and filing systems; prepare, maintain and update various records; very information as requested.  Prepare material and correspondence for distribution within the city and to other related external businesses and governmental agencies; photocopy, mail or fax materials as necessary.  Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.  One to two years of progressively responsible secretarial and clerical experience.  The ability to type at a speed necessary for successful job performance.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES:

Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
