Senior Maintenance Worker

To operate hand and power tools including air compressor, torch, grinder, grease machine, chainsaw, weed eater, stump grinder, etc. Identify equipment needs for each assigned project; pick up and deliver equipment to and from construction sites. Perform a variety of duties in the maintenance and repair of the City's irrigation system; change and adjust heads, maintain controllers and assist in large irrigation system installation and maintenance projects. Lead and participate in a variety of maintenance work related to assigned areas. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. May work evenings and weekends as required by staffing shortages or emergency conditions. Perform other duties as assigned.
Methods and techniques of construction, maintenance and related to the assigned area of responsibility. Operational characteristic of mechanical equipment and tools used in the assigned. Operate a variety of vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment in a safe and effective manner in routine situations. Work independently in the absence of supervision; have ability to oversee and assist assigned maintenance staff. Two (2) years of responsible maintenance and construction experience. Formal or informal education or training witch ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. Possession of or the ability to obtain an appropriate, valid driver's license.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
