|Work Hours:||7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.|
DUTIES: Provide training to new crew members; work with employees to correct deficiencies, assign, review, oversee, and participate in the work of the crew responsible for providing services in repair, installations and maintenance of city water mains. Operate hand and power tools including air compressor, welding torch, grinder, grease machine, chainsaws, trash pumps and pavement breakers. Identify equipment needs, inspect machinery and equipment; perform minor maintenance on equipment. May work evenings and weekends as required by staffing shortages or emergency and other duties by the supervisors, also will work a rotating call 24 hours 7 days per week.
QUALIFICATIONS: Class A license with 3 years of responsible maintenance and construction experience. Experience in operating heavy equipment. Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance; construction and repair work is an assigned area of responsibility. Work independently in the absence of supervisor. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written, establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.
PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENTSHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
