Description

DUTIES:  Assume management responsibilities for all services and activities, including operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plants, water well stations, water tanks, and laboratory operations; serve as primary liaison between Water Treatment and Water Maintenance groups to enhance communication and coordination of activities; participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the water treatment plant; identify resource needs; recommend and implement policies and procedures; assume management responsibility of the selection, motivation, and evaluation of Water Plant personnel, including staff training, work with employees to correct deficiencies; manage and participate in the development and administration of the Water Plant annual budget; direct the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; direct the monitoring of and the expenditures; direct and implement adjustments as necessary; ensure the adherence to safe work practices by all personnel; respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints regarding water plant operations; review and approve design plans for all Water Plant operation activities and perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration, engineering, planning, operation and maintenance of water and sewer facilities or the similar utility system, including five years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering or a related field. Other degrees will be considered with heavy management experience, especially in a technical field. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid driver’s license and a Class A Water Works Certificate.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES: Within six (6) months from date of employment, must establish residence within the City of Jackson.

PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT, APPLICANT RECOMMENDED FOR EMPLOYMENT SHALL BE REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY PASS A URINALYSIS AND/OR BLOOD TEST TO SCREEN FOR ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUG ABUSE.
