About the California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative:
The Online Education Initiative (OEI) is a collaborative effort among California Community Colleges (CCCs) to ensure that significantly more students are able to complete their educational goals by increasing both access to and success in high-quality online courses. The OEI is funded by a grant from the CCC Chancellor’s Office to the Foothill - De Anza Community College District, and manages the operation of the @ONE project. @ONE provides technology training to faculty and staff of the California Community Colleges, supporting the Online Education Initiative in promoting effective online teaching pedagogy to support online student success, and coordinating activities with other statewide professional development providers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for a 12-month per year, non-tenure track Faculty Professional Development Coordinator-Technology Training position. This position will provide leadership for @ONE Project activities that support the use of instructional, administrative, and information technology across the California Community College (CCC) system, including the Common Course Management System and related tools and platforms. This position is responsible for supporting the role of the CCC system as a leader in the effective use of technology. Responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, coordinating, and delivering professional development to enhance and increase:
- The use of the digital ecosystem centered around the statewide Common Course Management System (Canvas).
- The digital literacy of CCC personnel.
- The use of administrative tools and platforms to enhance productivity.
- Professional development opportunities for information technology staff.
- The use of technology tools that are used to create, develop, and curate instructional materials.
- Training and professional development opportunities aimed at early adopters of innovative and emerging instructional technologies.
- Supporting technology and CCMS (Canvas) use across the CCC system by working with regional coordinators and colleges to identify and leverage exemplary campus-based programs and best-practices; coordinating the recruitment of trainers and the creation of new professional development opportunities to meet local and regional needs.
- Keeping the CCC at the forefront of technology use by providing professional development opportunities for early adopters of new and emerging technology.
- In collaboration with the appropriate system stakeholders, implementing a badging and ePortfolio platform for professional development.
- Facilitating learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, synchronous and asynchronous online training, and the procurement and development of job aids and just-in-time support materials.
- Work with instructional designers to provide subject matter expertise for the development, design and delivery of professional development events, materials, and resources.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the instructional, administrative, and information technology needs of a distributed, statewide system of higher education. This position reports to the OEI Chief Professional Development Officer and will interact with many different individuals from across the state, and will use a variety of electronic and web-based technologies to accomplish OEI and @ONE Project program objectives, including working with remote teams and interacting with various governance groups, committees, and external stakeholders. Workplace location outside district boundaries may be negotiable, with frequent in-state travel required.
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Must meet the state mandated applicable minimum qualification for a faculty appointment in a subject discipline offered within the Foothill - De Anza Community College District. In most cases, this requires a master’s degree or the equivalent."
- Three (3) or more years demonstrated successful experience using technology in a higher education setting.
- A degree or significant coursework in educational technology, instructional design, or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the CCC Common Course Management System (Canvas) and related tools and platforms.
- Experience supporting and training higher education faculty, staff, and administrators in the effective use of technology to improve efficiency and support student success.
- Experience developing and providing leadership for projects involving multiple, distributed stakeholders and remote participants.
- Track record of supporting professional development needs across multiple colleges, schools, or institutions.
- Experience applying prevailing accessibility standards in the development of instructional resources.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations that impact the use of technology in higher education.
- Knowledge of national and regional trends and effective practices in the use of technology.
- Experience applying principles of adult learning in professional development.
- Experience aligning professional development projects and activities with institutional mission, goals, and strategic objectives.
- Experience planning, designing, facilitating, and co-facilitating trainings, workshops, and conferences.
- Demonstrated success in working collegially and collaboratively with a diverse population.

HIRING RANGE: $68,479.00- $112,466.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant’s verified education and experience.
