Beginning in late 2019, JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District is set to transform Savannah’s historic riverfront into a vibrant new entertainment destination inviting guests and visitors to experience incredible dining between 12+ outlets, live music and concerts, high-end shopping and inspired hotel stays. The JW Marriott Savannah will offer 419 beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites for couples, families, business guests and groups looking for inspiration, and discerning travelers with an appetite for something different.

Objective / Purpose / Summary: 

This position is primarily responsible for serving hotel guests.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Supervisory responsibilities for the below mentioned position(s)/department(s)  include interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; mentoring, rewarding and conducting corrective action(s), addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • No direct reports

Qualifications: Education / Certifications / Work/Industry Experience:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) – required – OR
  2. One to three months related experience and/or training - required – OR

Essential Duties / Responsibilities / Tasks:

Primary duties, responsibilities, and tasks include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Escorts incoming hotel guests to rooms, assists with hand luggage, and offers information pertaining to available services and facilities of hotel, points of interest, and entertainment attractions.
  2. Escorts departing hotel guests from room to lobby/valet with luggage and offers departing information and directions as necessary.
  3. Inspects guest's room to ensure furnishings are in order and supplies are adequate.
  4. Explains features of room such as operation of radio, television, and night-lock, and how to place telephone calls.
  5. Pages guests in lobby, dining room, or other parts of hotel.
  6. Delivers messages and runs errands.
  7. Delivers room service orders on occasion.
  8. Picks up articles for laundry and valet service.
  9. Calls taxi for guests.
  10. Transports guests about premises or local areas in car or motorized cart.
  11. Keeps record of calls for service.
  12. Delivers packages, suitcases, and trunks, and sets up sample rooms.
  13. Tidies lobby.
  14. Assist with valet as necessary
  15. Provide door service for guests

Work Environment/Conditions:

  • Frequently spend time outdoors.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
