Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To oversee and manage all aspects of Lollypop Farm’s End of Life Services Program

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

**Monitor and maintain the End of Life Services phone line and email address, returning calls and emails within 24 hours.

**Counsel owners who are considering euthanasia and/or other end of life services, such as cremation, for their pets via telephone, email and in person. 

**Provide high quality customer service and exercise patience and empathy when working with difficult, emotional or angry customers.

**Schedule and conduct all end of life service appointments and walk-in customers, including

  • Owner requested euthanasia

  • Communal cremations

  • Private cremations

  • Columbarium internment

  • Pet memorial opportunities

**Notify clients for pickup of special cremations and fulfillment of columbarium requests

**Assist with and perform euthanasia, including with owners present.

**Assist with and perform special cremations on an as-needed basis.

**Oversee and schedule Lollypop Farm’s Pet Loss Support workshops

**Monitor and maintain cemetery and columbarium (i.e. appearance, landscape etc.) in conjunction with the maintenance department.

**Develop and maintain expenses within budgetary guidelines, working with the shelter manager.

**Write monthly report, including statistics, expenses and income.

**Promote End of Life Services to community, including veterinary offices, generating client loyalty.

**Explore relationships with other agencies in order to enhance services to clients.

**Implement sales and revenue producing services, working with the shelter manager and VP for Community Affairs.

**Work with the Development department on memorial opportunities.

**Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state and federal laws.

**Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others.

**Maintain good housekeeping.

**Perform other duties as requested.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. (1)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree required. At least two years of customer service experience is required, and a minimum of one year of animal handling experience is recommended.  Background in social work and/or the funeral industry is strongly preferred.  Proficient in Microsoft Office is required. Excellent attention to detail is required. Experience using Pet Point system is helpful.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, speak, hear and see.  Frequently required to sit, lift 50+ pounds, carry 25+ pounds, and push and pull 50-100 pounds.
