Position Summary

The Environmental Monitoring Technician I is accountable for results in a fast-paced environment.  The Level I Technician follows applicable SOPs and cGMPs to perform environmental monitoring for the facility, and may also perform simple, routine basic interpretation of environmental monitoring (EM) results, typically under supervision. This position is also responsible for hazardous waste and sanitation/cleaning of the Microbiology laboratory. The position requires strong leadership behaviors of the Alcami core competencies and non-negotatiables, as well as the functional competencies of this profile

 

  Essential Functions

  • Performs routine daily, weekly and monthly sampling of Water for Injection, compressed gas and the environment to detect microbial, non-viable and chemical contamination.
  • Supports manufacturing operations by continuous environmental monitoring viable and non-viable particles.
  • Performs assigned tasks carefully and on schedule according to standard operating procedure and supervisor instruction.
  • Performs necessary cleaning for the laboratory including pharmaceutical waste.
  • Performs all required glassware and sterilization for the laboratory.
  • Orders, receives and stores laboratory supplies.
  • Performs simple routine interpretation of EM results under supervision.
  • Performs trending of environmental monitoring data, including quarter trend reports.
  • Performs media fill inspection of vials.
  • Participates in company sponsored training.
  • Maintains productive work ethic.
  • Maintains safe, clean, and organized work environment free from safety hazards.

 

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 0-2 years of related laboratory experience required with Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of experience without.
  • cGMP or work experience in a regulated environment preferred.
  • Prior pharmaceutical, CMO, CDMO and hazardous goods experience preferred.

Functional Competencies

  • Knowledge and use of standard lab equipment including balances and Autoclave.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 5% domestic travel.
