RENEWABLE NATURAL GAS (RNG) TECHNICIAN

 

Position requires employee to work as part of a team to carry out the necessary processes to ensure the proper functionality and production of the RNG facility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Responsible for the safe and dependable operating condition of all equipment in the RNG facility
  2. Maintains all records, logs and summary documents associated with the operation and analytical tests in a professional and ethical fashion
  3. Prepare equipment for maintenance activities with strict adherence to corresponding safety compliance (i.e. lock out tag out, confined space, hot work, etc.)
  4. Communicates effectively at all levels in the maintenance and operating departments
  5. Communicates effectively with outside agencies as required
  6. Provides rapid response when equipment malfunctions
  7. Maintains high level of housekeeping, orderliness and cleanliness within plant
  8. Perform all work as assigned while adhering to high standards associated with safety and workmanship

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must possess a high school diploma, or equivalent
  2. Preferred experience with renewable energy production and/or experience in waste water treatment
  3. Must have an insurance acceptable valid driver’s license

REQUIRED ABILITIES

  1. Self-motivated, a self-starter and self-directed to work without close supervision in a team environment
  2. Must be open-minded and adaptive to change, promote collective interests of the team more than self-interest, and be able to resolve problems in a respectful manner
  3. Hard working, dependable, safety and quality conscious
  4. Possesses good language skills (verbal & written) to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and to communicate effectively with others
  5. Basic mechanical aptitude
  6. Basic knowledge of chemicals, their interactions, and safe handling practices
  7. Reading, writing and basic math skills required
  8. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  9. Available to work any shift, as required, to support a 24/7 operation
  10. Proper and safe use of hand and power tools
  11. Strong computer skills, with willingness to learn new software
  12. Must be able to operate trucks, loaders, skid steers, and other similar equipment 
  13. Capable of using hand tools, power tools, and precision-measuring and testing instruments both mechanical and electrical

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS OF THE WORKPLACE

  1. Exposure to loud noises
  2. Exposure to odorous materials
  3. Exposure to hazardous and nonhazardous materials
  4. Exposure to outside work in all weather conditions
  5. May be exposed to confined spaces
  6. Some work indoors in a non-temperature controlled environment
  7. Must be willing to work around dust, oil, grease, chemicals, and other substances

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Physical ability to work around and on industrial equipment, including frequent climbing, stooping, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting, bending, kneeling, crawling and grasping
  2. Must be able to lift/carry 80 lbs+
  3. Must have efficient eye-hand coordination
  4. Work standing or walking for long periods of time, and data entry while taking samples for more than one hour at a time
  5. Ability to work in confined spaces and climb several flights of stairs and ladders
  6. Hearing, seeing (acuity – near far and depth)
  7. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas (Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel toed boots and hearing protection)
  8. Must be able to work 12-hour swing shift schedule and be available for call-ins and weekend work as needed
  9. Ability to work overtime as needed
  10. Work bending and squatting

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Ability to open valves and torque bolts up to 1.5 inches and 200 inch lbs
  2. Must be able to clearly delineate between different colors
  3. Must be able to work long periods of time, including nights and weekends

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  1. All other tasks assigned by manager
  2. Travel required as needed (including air travel)
