We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our company as a Senior-level quality assurance professional in our San Diego Office. This person should have an understanding of quality assurance from all perspectives including application/UI, performance, load and scalability testing.  The Quality Assurance Manager is going to responsible for the overall quality of the entire product line.  This individual needs to understand the software development lifecycle, various development methodologies, software QA standards and how these are all applied to the development process as a whole.  The person in this position is responsible for making certain not only that the QA team is properly aligned with the business goals of company but also that the entire software development team understands the quality goals of the company.  The primary goal of this individual will be to direct the quality assurance process for the TCI product line such that product releases can be produced with exceptionally high quality in as little time as possible.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day direction of the entire quality assurance team.
  • Define the quality assurance policies and procedures and assure that they are directed towards producing products with the appropriate level of quality in the shortest possible timeframe.
  • Participate heavily in the quality assurance process, defining and executing manual as well as automated test cases.
  • Mentor less senior members of the quality assurance team.
  • Conduct performance reviews of other quality assurance team members.
  • Participate in and possibly lead the project management efforts for various projects.
  • Participate in scoping project schedule for QA tasks.
  • Participate in design reviews, project team meetings and status meetings to stay abreast of the project including providing a status update of your own work progress.
  • Help the team understand how to create complex test plans that address test coverage and adhere to established standards for Web, UI, Performance, operating system and platform.
  • Create test matrixes that detail the test conditions required to fully cover functionality under test.
  • Monitor team queue and adjust workload within team to manage volume received.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the test documentation.
  • Promote adoption of automation test harnesses as introduced.

Qualifications Include:

  • 10+ years of formal and organized quality assurance testing experience
  • Proven leadership and consensus building skills.
  • Ability to understand the business goals of the company and how they apply to the QA group.
  • Strong ability to mentor less senior staff members.
  • Through understanding of industry best practices in software development as a whole including the software development lifecycle and various development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of testing disciplines for validating data integrity, middleware (APIs), back end servers and UI functionality
  • Experience with load and performance testing tools and best practices.
  • Clear understanding of the various methods used in software quality assurance required to produce a quality software product while still shipping the software in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to work with members of all departments at a variety of levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrable success working and thrivng in a loosely structured, fast-paced environment where success is measured by an individual’s ability to deliver on what was promised.
