Position: Communications Writer

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical communications, mass communications, marketing, or similar field
  • Experience with DreamWeaver is preferred
  • Experience with MadCap Flare is a bonus
  • 1-3 years of experience in a writing field preferred

Business Skills:

  • Work with Subject Matter Experts and other content providers to produce content for mass customer emails and technical bulletins
  • Develop information that applies strong writing skills with consideration to clarity, grammar, spelling, consistency, presentation, and logical organization depending on the audience
  • Edit information to conform to style guidelines
  • Analyze and critically think about documentation in order to understand the big picture
  • Organize and schedule multiple concurrent projects with various deadlines
  • Review SME edits for accuracy and appropriateness (e.g. Does the title of a new section match the corresponding text? Does the window they are referring to actually have this button?)
  • Adhere to the review cycle and approval requirements
  • Track your work in the required format
  • Understand and pursue current and emerging technology
  • Demonstrate competency in core skills
  • Complete assignments in a timely manner without direction
  • Meet quick deadlines and fast turnarounds of projects
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve personal effectiveness
  • Analyze and communicate process improvement opportunities
  • Assist with product documentation for the software, as needed
  • Participate in peer reviews of communications and other deliverables, such as guides, online help, quick reference cards, etc.
