This position is responsible for developing and executing food safety strategies to support and drive compliance in food safety and quality systems, in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Providing leadership, direction and day-to-day support that is critical to ensuring compliance to regulatory, internal and customer food safety and quality requirements.
Accountable for strategic food safety and compliance leadership, including integration of quality into the business in all functions and all levels, developing, improving and executing a quality management system that ensures compliance to appropriate food safety, regulatory, customer and quality requirements.
Leading the organization in the management of ongoing performance and managing a staff that supports food safety, compliance and quality systems effectiveness.
Ensuring internal audit program is effective and performed at a level to ensure compliance with current Foremost Farms Quality Policies and Procedures, including ensuring continuous improvement of the program to drive effectiveness with a high level of support and collaboration with the plants. Provide plants with assistance to improve compliance.
Keeping current with the requirements outlined in the Quality Procedures Manual, as well as the special requirements of customers, including ensuring requirements are cascaded to manufacturing sites in a consistent and compliant manner.
Assisting in preparing training materials for employee and management training with respect to GMP’s, Allergens, Food Safety Plans, Hazard Analysis, Bio Security, record keeping, etc.
Maintaining technical competency and remaining current in changes in technology and in the industry.
Completing and maintaining all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
Completing special projects assigned.
Following and complying with all safety and work rules and regulations.
Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace.
Timely and accurate completion of duties.
Occasional travel for work, from zero up to 33% of the time.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to correctly add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to correctly compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills & Abilities: Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, calculator, FAX, photocopier, telephone, postage machine, paper shredder, scanner, etc. The ability to drive a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands – Employee is frequently (more than 75% of time) required to: use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, sit; to verbally communicate; and to hear. The employee is occasionally (up to 33% of the time) required to walk and stand. The employee must occasionally (up to 33% of the time) lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment – Employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne participles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Protective Equipment – This position may need personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the job being performed, such as hearing protection, food safety clothing and other.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering or related technical field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in food manufacturing, with a focus on food safety and compliance. Experience in dairy industry is preferred.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITIY QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience directly managing others; experience effectively leading a team and accomplishing goals through others.
Understanding of regulatory and food law at the state and federal level and organic, kosher and halal requirements.
Key functional skills: HACCP principles, Preventive Controls, SQF Edition 8 management, Change Management processes, Integrated Sanitation and Pest Prevention Management, Environmental Monitoring Program Management, GMP and Personnel Hygiene. Train-the-Trainer training is desired.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
