The Economic Development Department is seeking a Strategic Development Coordinator to assist with the implementation of programs and projects focused on business attraction and expansion, and strategic development within Tax Increment Financing Districts. The Economic Development Department pursues high-wage job growth and a more sustainable tax base, driven less by residential property valuation and more by commercial and industrial investment; and has a commitment to "quality of place" throughout the community. We want to be recognized as a leader in economic and business development, as well as urban revitalization, by our peers and customers. The selected candidate is responsible for implementing those strategies specific to competitiveness, as identified in the Economic Development Strategic Plan.  Primary duties will include implementation of strategies within Goal 1: Establish Fort Worth’s Competitive Edge by identifying and leading projects that elevate the profile of Fort Worth; attract new investments and businesses into the community; improve the competitiveness of existing businesses; and support talent initiatives.

The selected candidate will:

  • Assist in the creation and implementation of programs to encourage the attraction and expansion of new and existing employers within the community;

  • Actively engage with existing businesses on growth and expansion opportunities;

  • Attract new businesses to Fort Worth;

  • Establish relationships with local, regional, and national site consultants, corporate real estate executives and real estate brokers;

  • Manage relationships with those accounts specifically focused on the following key industries: International Business, Corporate and Regional Headquarters, Transportation & Warehousing; and Aerospace Manufacturing & Design.

  • Provide leadership and strategywith assigned Tax Increment Finance (TIFs) to support strategic efforts;

  • Conduct project analysis, negotiate terms of incentive contracts, and coordinates approval process;

  • Represent the City in meetings with representatives of business and community organizations, governmental agencies and the public;

  • Prepare a variety of periodic, progress and special reports.

  • Incentive policies, programs and projects experience
  • Best practices related to business expansion and attraction
  • Principles, practices and techniques of economic development, marketing, and financing methods available for economic growth

  • Been a part of successful community building efforts in terms of forging strong partnerships and collaborative efforts with like-minded organizations to achieve clearly defined mission and goals

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects

  • Possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels within the organization and with customers

  • Ability to make sound business decisions to meet the needs of the customers and maintain organizational goals

  • Utilize independent judgment and sound decision making

  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.

  • Have excellent speaking and writing skills.

  • Financial/statistical/comparative analysis techniques and formulae

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Economic Development, or related field or comparable education/experience/training; with four years of experience in economic development or related field required.

  •  Four years of business attraction or economic development experience  required

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products necessary

PREFERRED:

  • A Master’s Degree is preferred as is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) status or other appropriate certification;

  • Experience with Salesforce preferred
