Work with stake-holders to conceptualize the assembly process either in semi-auto, fully automatic machines or multi- purpose fixtures for either existing products or new products with both quality and cost considerations.
Be part of a new product development team, complete assembly equipment per the established timing, cost and quality requirements. Maintain project file for assigned projects.
Provide support for interpretation of the technical specifications, requirements, vendors’ quotations, evaluation and submission of the automation project costing to Management for approval.
Coordinate the projects, test run and qualify the machine using SPC tools and complete the final setup.
Assist or wholly responsible for design, coordinate fabrication, assembly, debug and test run the equipment with guidance from supervisor.
Coordinate with machine vendors for all new machines. Assist the vendors and ensure completion date is met.
Implement short term SPC so as to establish the process capability.
Undertake pre-production improvement of new products with Operations and ensure that it conforms to quality requirements; assembly processes are established and capacities are sufficient for initial production.
Work with Quality Assurance (QA) to establish process parameters for all new assembly operations/ machines and update all process specifications or issues before release to manufacturing for mass production.
Provide documentation and training to process & maintenance engineers, technicians and operators so that they are fully competent in maintaining and running the production machines.
Coordinate with process and maintenance engineering on joint projects so that it can be carried out with least problems and misunderstanding. Ensure that products or machines are smoothly transferred from one group to another.
Support long term strategic plans to introduce new products meeting time to market and time to volume requirement.
Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent. Preferably with Electrical and controls knowledge including software programming.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office software and CAD.
Experience with precision engineering, machining and/or welding, tool & die making and metal stamping.
Hands-on knowledge on equipment troubleshooting and process automation and improvements.
Ability to organize and manage projects.
Strong problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
