Internews is implementing an EU-supported project, whose overall objective is to increase and diversify public discourse about marginalised populations. Internews seeks a Beijing-based Program Coordinator to provide administrative and technical support for programs, planning and communications under the supervision of the Country Director. The Program Coordinator will provide general administrative, financial management, logistical and technical support to Chinese programs as well as back-up support for donor reporting and implementation of project deliverables.



Program Support:

  • Monitor, administer and support implementation of small grants activity and ensure the partners (small grantees of which there will be 15 China-based organisations) respect contractual conditions (delivery, reporting). Serve as a liaison between the partners and Internews HQ in London and for Country Director for any matter related to small grantees, ensuring fluid information flow and timely support and trouble-shooting.
  • Assist with project oversight, including monitoring work plans and activity schedules, and supporting communications with partners.
  • Maintain and support monitoring and evaluation plans (PMP), esp. tracking output and outcomes, and coordinate with consultants and partners.


  • Prepare and manage contracts with local vendors, procurement requests and related payments, working in close cooperation with the Beijing-based Finance Manager.
  • Working in close collaboration with Finance Officer, monitor and manage project-related payments.
  • Work with Grants & Contracts, Accounting teams and the partner organisations to administer small grants.
  • Schedule and assist with logistics for meetings and events.


  • Provide inputs to drafting and editing of donor reports.
  • Provide support to Finance Manager and Country Director in liaising with Internews administration and control staff in London HQ office on all contracts, sub grants and procurement.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Carry out research in support of ongoing projects and new initiatives.
  • Fulfill other tasks as assigned by the Country Director.

  • Relevant university degree required.
  • 3+ years‘ programmatic experience and financial and administrative experience, including oversight of project deliverables and deadlines, budget analysis and preparation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to set priorities, meet tight deadlines, manage multiple assignments and time effectively.
  • Previous experience on international development/cooperation programs is a significant asset.
  • Previous work experience and understanding of problematics related to civil society and human rights as well as knowledge of the media sector is a significant asset.
  • Report-writing experience is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including diplomacy, tact, and the ability to negotiate.
  • Excellent English and Chinese communication skills: speaking, writing, and listening.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project and department needs and priorities.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
