Internews is seeking a full time Program Associate to provide administrative and technical support for global programs that support the creation of tools that promote privacy and access to information for human rights defenders and vulnerable populations under the supervision of the Program Officer. The Program Associate will be expected to perform complicated tasks requiring prior experience, education, or training. This is a unique entry-level role that will offer you the opportunity to develop expertise in the direct implementation of publicly-funded foreign assistance programs and work closely with security and privacy tool creators, as well as and build your understanding of how human rights and technology intersect.
You’re an ideal candidate for this position if you have extraordinary written and oral communication skills; great attention to detail and organizational capacity; a love for keeping things moving and on track; a voracious desire to learn; and the desire to help protect human rights defenders, journalists, and marginalized people around the world. We laugh easily and cheer each other on, so you also need to be ready for that.
Internews works to ensure access to trusted, quality information that empowers people to have a voice in their future and to live healthy, secure, and rewarding lives. We envision a world where everyone can communicate freely with anyone, anywhere, and exchange the news and information they need to shape their communities and the world. Over 35 years, we have cultivated and supported partners, people, and offices in more than 90 countries. We operate in the hardest places on earth, helping build deeply local solutions that incorporate technologies appropriate to each local context. We are committed to reducing information darkness over the next five years, testing and iterating new solutions, and asking ourselves repeatedly, “What more can be done?”
