Lollypop Farm is hiring for a Per Diem Humane Education Facilitator to work on multiple Saturdays and/or Sundays per month.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Humane Education Facilitator will prepare and facilitate humane education programs for children and adults. The Humane Education Facilitator must be an energetic and highly motivated person who enjoys working with children.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare and facilitate programs; including but not limited to Petacular Parties, Girl Scout Workshops, Group Tours, Etc.
  • Provide an exceptional experience to program participants.
  • Greet and assist program participants.
  • Responsible for setting up the room prior to program begins and cleaning-up after it ends.
  • Lead a tour of the shelter and the farm yard (weather permitting).
  • Receive payment by cash, check, or credit cards.
  • Clean and maintain education rooms and education displays.
  • Handle shelter animals
  • Copy, scan, mail, enter data
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable state and federal laws
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others
  • Maintain good housekeeping
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. (1)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Associates Degree in education or equivalent experience in youth service program, and experience working with children.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of various ages and backgrounds. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences and memos. Ability to write simple correspondences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form. The employee must have good customer service skills and patience. Cash handling experience preferred.

SKILLS/TOOLS: Strong multi-tasking skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

OFFICE EQUIPMENT: Ability to operate a copier, postage meter, fax machine, and computer.

SUPERVISORY: Frequently uses assistance of one or several others in performing job duties.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. (1)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk; talk, see and hear. The employee must occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  The employee may work in an area with high noise level, and potentially be subject to animal bites and scratches.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cleaning chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, dust, animal dander, and feces.

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
