The ideal candidate for this position will have three years experience in website development as well as have proficiency with current HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and managing a website using a content management system (Experience with Blackbaud Luminate a plus). The ideal candidate will also be proficient in optimizing and publishing email newsletters.

 

Primary Function:  The Digital Media Specialist works in a collaborative environment to publish content to promote the initiatives of Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester. This position has responsibility for website maintenance, design, and optimization; email campaigns; graphic design; and other related tasks.

  • Publishes web content and interactive forms using WordPress and the Blackbaud Luminate content management systems, maintaining consistent look and feel that reflects the brand of the organization

  • Uses HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress and Blackbaud Luminate to manage website using a content management system.

  • Develops and integrates images, graphics, and video content for website, email and social media

  • Develops and implements regular website maintenance to ensure accuracy

  • Manages constituent database for website which includes maintaining user records, registrations and donations, segmentation tracking, and running reports

  • Builds and sends dynamic, targeted emails and e-newsletters using CMS, ensuring compliance with mass email and current design standards

  • Assesses performance metrics of web and email campaign analytics, and makes recommendations based on findings

  • Collaborates with Manager of Database/Analytics to maintain data synchronization

  • Works with systems vendors on design, navigation, and usability troubleshooting and to investigate technical issues

  • Tracks and evaluates new standards, technologies, and trends in web design and email marketing

  • Manages adoptable pet listing exports to external sites and troubleshoots issues

  • Manages adoptable pet search system and responds to customer requests and/or issues

  • Performs related duties as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. (1)

This person should have a strong web and technical background, with a good creative eye and marketing acumen.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS/TOOLS: Proficient with current HTML, CSS, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and managing a website using a content management system (Experience with Blackbaud Luminate a plus). Proficient in optimizing and publishing email newsletters. Skilled at Google Analytics, SEO, and analyzing web traffic. Skilled in database management and reporting. Skilled at creating and editing images for web, email, and social media usage. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, as well as Microsoft Office suite of products.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Flexibility to adapt to change and prioritize under pressure, perhaps with a cat on the keyboard and dogs barking in the background.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, demonstrated by delivering clear, concise, accurate, and timely communications and effectively working with others. Demonstrated ability to show initiative in a collaborative environment. Excellent customer service skills required.

Performs work primarily in an office setting.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, feel, speak, hear and see.  Performance may also require prolonged periods of sitting and repetitive motion and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds with reasonable accommodations.
