United Way of King County is a recognized leader in solving the community’s toughest challenges. Join our team as our newest Events & Advertising Program Manager. Events and online giving have been proven strategies for growing our audience and donor base at United Way of King County. This position is part strategy and part execution in both of those key areas. This person is responsible for creating and executing an annual event strategy that introduces us to new audiences and builds the brand. A member of a 2-person event team, they will take the lead on working the Marketing Director and other stakeholders on messaging for each event. This position is also responsible for strategy and execution on general advertising and execution for online giving.


Essential duties:

  • Manages the development and implementation of fundraising and organizational special events for United Way of King County, various major donor cultivation and recognition events, and ad hoc events that capitalize on United Way’s community relationships
  • Selects and procures sites for special events; promotes events and works to ensure that they support the overall communication strategy of the organization.
  • Develops strategy for traditional and media buying; oversees agency relationship for Google ads.
  • Purchases media – both traditional and digital
  • Negotiates with vendors in developing contracts for all aspects of support: decoration, music, sound production, talent and giveaways. Responsible for creating and adhering to annual event budget.
  • Communicates and negotiates directly with volunteer leadership including campaign chairperson(s), Million Dollar Roundtable chairs, and/or deputies to coordinate events, and acts as a trusted liaison from United Way of King County.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.

Education and/or Experience:

A successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, Public relations or related field, and have at least five years’ experience in marketing, media and event planning.  Previous volunteer management experience strongly preferred. Awareness of latest marketing/sponsorship trends and best practices helpful.

The annual recruitment range is $67,100 to $70,100, depending on successful experience and prior accomplishments. First review will be on June 28, 2019 - don’t hesitate, please apply today.
